As we reflect on the incredible work we’ve accomplished over the past year, we’re excited to share a big change with you — one that marks the beginning of a new chapter for our organization. After much thought and conversation, we’re pleased to announce that the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) is now simply The Coalition.

CNHED commends Chairman Phil Mendelson’s Emergency Rental Assistance Reform Emergency Amendment Act of 2024 as a welcome step toward acknowledging that a District of renters needs both rental property owners and residents who can thrive.

CNHED is thrilled to have reintroduced our traditional in-person advocacy engagement for the FY2025 budget season.

As the Council of the District of Columbia embarks upon the crucial task of shaping the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, we at the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) wish to offer our insights, recommendations, and unwavering support in navigating these challenging times.

The Coalition for Nonprofit Housing & Economic Development (CNHED) is excited to share our 2023 Impact Report, which outlines not only our accomplishments throughout the year but also forecasts our future work in 2023.

New study examines more than four decades of TOPA history, outcomes, and impacts on affordable housing preservation and tenant rights in the Nation’s Capital.

CNHED will lead a collaborative that includes National Housing Trust, Medici Road, Housing Counseling Services, LISC DC, Mi Casa, and Douglas Community Land Trust that aims to increase and preserve the supply of affordable, small buildings (<50 housing units) and support residents becoming small building owners to build wealth. This commitment is informed by JP Morgan Chase’s participation in the Connecting Capital and Community (3C) initiative led by the Center for Community Investment at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy to advance more equitable housing results in five U.S. cities.
