Shaping Tomorrow’s Community Development Ecosystem
As part of Community Development Week 2026, The Coalition will convene housing leaders from across Washington, DC to examine the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of affordable housing and community development.
As the District prepares for a new mayoral administration and Council period, this summit will provide an opportunity for housing practitioners, developers, service providers, financial institutions, and community partners to discuss the policies, investments, and system improvements needed to strengthen housing outcomes for District residents.
Building on The Coalition’s year-round policy and member engagement, participants will explore the most pressing issues facing the affordable housing ecosystem, identify opportunities to strengthen housing production and preservation, and discuss strategies that promote long-term housing stability and economic mobility.
Through facilitated discussion and cross-sector engagement, participants will help inform The Coalition’s ongoing housing advocacy, member engagement, and policy priorities for the years ahead.
Housing Production and Preservation
Exploring opportunities to increase the production and preservation of affordable housing while addressing financing challenges, development barriers, and long-term system capacity.
Housing Stability and Affordability
Examining policies and strategies that improve housing quality, reduce rental arrears, support low-income homeowners and renters, and help stabilize residents at risk of homelessness.
Preparing for the Next Chapter of Housing Policy
Identifying opportunities to strengthen collaboration across the housing ecosystem and help inform The Coalition’s engagement with the next administration and Council.
