Small Business Month

DC Small Business Week 2025 is
May 4th – 10th

(But we’ll be celebrating the entire month of May!)

We believe that small businesses are the heart of Washington, DC — fueling innovation, creating jobs, and building strong, vibrant communities across all eight wards.

While Small Business Week is nationally recognized in early May, we go bigger with #DCSmallBizMonth — a full month dedicated to celebrating the entrepreneurs, creators, and leaders who power DC’s economy and shape our city’s future.

Throughout May, The Coalition is proud to host events, share resources, and create opportunities for everyone to support, uplift, and engage with DC’s incredible small business community.

Get involved in three simple ways:

Support Local

Shop, dine, and do business with DC’s incredible local entrepreneurs.

Engage & Share

Use your voice to highlight your favorite DC small businesses and spread the word on social media using #DCSmallBizMonth and #SupportSmallDC.

Stay Connected

Visit the event calendar below to find upcoming events, workshops, and celebrations happening throughout the month.

Together, we can strengthen our local economy, promote economic opportunity, and celebrate the businesses that make DC thrive.

Cash Mob Weekends

We’re teaming up with DC’s Main Streets, BIDs, and Small Business Technical Assistance providers to host Cash Mob Weekends across the District. It’s fun. It’s powerful. And it’s all about showing up for DC’s small businesses.

From May 17 to 31, on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 PM to 2 PM, we’re rallying District residents to show up and shop small! A Cash Mob is a fun, mob-style event where neighbors gather at a designated small business to make an influx of purchases. Think of it as a shopping rally: a joyful, intentional effort to support the local economy and build community, one spontaneous shopping trip at a time.
