VISTA Spotlight: Selena Duvivier

In her work as an AmeriCorps VISTA, Selena works with the Resident Services team at the National Housing Trust (NHT) to develop and implement onsite services for families living in NHT-owned affordable housing communities. With the impact of COVID-19 being immediately felt by these communities, Selena’s project has incorporated coronavirus relief efforts to alleviate added barriers and challenges as a result of the global health pandemic. Selena has supported efforts to connect residents with local food distributions, provide in-home computer access, and update residents on the available assistance programs in their community.

Most recently, Selena worked on a Twitter campaign which highlighted data of housing stability and fear of homelessness by the general public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Highlighting this information allows NHT to better advocate on behalf of the communities they serve through a medium that reaches far beyond the immediate network of the organization. In our current digital world, Selena has begun to regularly incorporate social media campaigns into the organization’s outreach efforts. Selena will continue to manage these campaigns as they relate to the Resident Services team and overall organizational needs.
